Official Concept Note 2026
East Africa Coffee Markets and Conference 2026
Theme: From Farm to Flavour: Quality, Compliance and Market Growth
Overview
The East Africa Coffee Markets and Conference, EACMC, is an integrated East African coffee market-access platform designed to prepare and connect producers, cooperatives, coffee enterprises, buyers, institutions and partners.
EACMC began as a strong physical gathering for the coffee sector, but it has now evolved into a wider year-round system for market development, coffee discovery, producer readiness, digital engagement, buyer matchmaking and commercial follow-up.
The October Grand Expo & Conference remains the flagship physical marketplace. It is the moment where the region’s coffee stakeholders, buyers, partners, institutions and commercial actors come together in one structured space.
Where producers meet the market.
That promise is delivered when producers are prepared, coffees are profiled, buyers are qualified, meetings are structured, samples are tracked and relationships are followed up after the event.
Why This Platform Now
East African coffee is admired globally for its quality, diversity and origin identity. Yet the sector continues to face challenges that limit the full value reaching producers and coffee enterprises.
Many producers and cooperatives still struggle with productivity, consistency, visibility, compliance, market information and direct engagement with credible buyers. At the same time, global coffee trade is changing. Buyers are becoming more selective. Traceability, sustainability, EUDR compliance, reliability, origin identity and quality assurance are becoming central to market access.
EACMC 2026 responds by aligning production, quality, compliance, market intelligence, buyer engagement and commercial follow-up within one continuous system.
The EACMC Market-Access Pathway
The journey begins at origin, where producers, cooperatives, estates and coffee enterprises are identified, mobilised and profiled. It continues through regional activities, the Coffee Academy, FOEA coffee discovery, buyer qualification, Trade Connect, structured B2B engagement, samples, Origin Experiences and post-event follow-up.
Each stage strengthens the next. Regional engagement identifies producers, coffees, enterprises, stories and institutions. The Coffee Academy supports readiness. FOEA brings quality coffees into visibility. Trade Connect provides the digital layer. The Global Market Access and Development Programme identifies and qualifies buyers. B2B meetings and sample requests create structured commercial conversations. Origin Experiences deepen buyer confidence, while post-event follow-up keeps interest alive.
Global Market Access and Development Programme
The buyer and market-development engine of EACMC identifies, qualifies and engages credible coffee buyers, market partners, trade agencies, embassies, associations, importers, roasters, distributors, retailers, hospitality buyers and commercial networks through strategically supported, independent attending, and digital or year-round buyer pathways.
Trade Connect
The digital layer supports buyer profiles, producer and seller profiles, coffee discovery, matchmaking, digital introductions, sample interest and commercial follow-up. It allows EACMC to continue before and after the three days of the Grand Expo & Conference.
Coffee Academy
A structured learning and market-readiness programme for a selected cohort of farmers, cooperative representatives and coffee enterprises, covering coffee quality, processing, post-harvest handling, traceability, compliance, buyer expectations, finance, insurance, technology, climate resilience, value addition and enterprise development.
Flavours of East Africa (FOEA)
EACMC’s coffee quality, recognition and discovery platform identifies, evaluates and showcases distinctive East African coffees, helping quality coffees become more visible, discoverable and connected to buyer interest, cupping sessions, samples, profiles and commercial follow-up.
Regional Coffee Programme
Regional activities connect origin-level activity to the wider platform, identifying producers, cooperatives, coffees, exhibitors, Coffee Academy applicants, FOEA entries, institutional partners, speakers and stories that feed the October marketplace.
Origin Experiences
Curated visits to coffee origins, farms, factories, estates, cooperatives, mills and institutions deepen understanding of provenance, production, processing, quality and traceability. They are market-development and relationship-building tools, not tourism.
Nairobi Grand Expo and Conference
The October 28–30, 2026 Grand Expo and Conference in Nairobi is the flagship physical marketplace of EACMC. It is where conference discussions, exhibition, Coffee Academy, FOEA, Roasters Village, Trade Connect, B2B meetings, buyer engagement, competitions, Origin Experiences, women and youth enterprise, government participation, institutional engagement and media storytelling come together.
This is the marketplace moment where preparation, visibility, knowledge, commercial engagement and relationship-building meet.
Conference: Knowledge, Policy and Market Intelligence
The conference brings together producers, cooperative leaders, exporters, buyers, roasters, researchers, policymakers, regulators, financiers, county governments, development partners and service providers.
It addresses production, productivity, quality, traceability, compliance, EUDR readiness, processing, finance, technology, climate resilience, domestic consumption, women and youth participation, cooperative governance, market access, buyer expectations and regional competitiveness.
Exhibition and Coffee Marketplace
The commercial floor brings together producers, cooperatives, estates, exporters, roasters, input providers, machinery and equipment companies, technology providers, traceability solutions, financial institutions, insurers, logistics providers, certification bodies, counties, public agencies, development partners and country pavilions.
It is a space for visibility, leads, product demonstrations, buyer engagement, partnerships, service linkages and commercial positioning.
Roasters Village
The experience, consumption and value-addition pillar gives roasters, cafés, brew bars, coffee brands, equipment suppliers and coffee lovers a vibrant public-facing space to brew, serve, sell, taste and tell the stories behind East African coffees. It supports domestic coffee consumption, youth enterprise, value addition, coffee culture and public engagement.
B2B, Cupping, Competitions and Networking
EACMC 2026 will include structured B2B meetings, FOEA cuppings, public cupping sessions, competitions and networking engagements. B2B meetings connect buyers with relevant producers, cooperatives, exporters, exhibitors and commercial partners. Sample requests and follow-up are tracked so commercial interest can continue after the event.
Women, Youth and Inclusive Coffee Enterprise
Women and youth are a cross-cutting part of EACMC 2026. The platform will identify, profile and support women-led and youth-led participation across the Coffee Academy, FOEA, exhibition, Roasters Village, competitions, conference, producer profiling, B2B engagement, Origin Experiences and Trade Connect.
The focus is enterprise, leadership, skills, visibility and market access.
Scale and Reach: Working Targets
These are working targets and will be refined as programme, venue and commercial plans are finalised. Success will also be measured through buyer relationships, producer readiness, B2B meetings, sample requests, commercial leads, partner engagement and post-event opportunities.
Expected Outcomes
EACMC 2026 seeks to strengthen producer and cooperative market readiness, improve visibility for East African coffees, engage qualified buyers, increase structured B2B interaction and support stronger post-event commercial follow-up.
It also seeks to increase regional participation, profile women and youth coffee enterprises, deepen understanding of compliance and traceability, connect production to consumption, support domestic coffee culture and strengthen East Africa’s position in global coffee conversations.
